Doctrines of faith

  1. The Divine verbal inspired authority and sufficiency of the Holy Scriptures (2 Timothy ch. 3 v 15 – 17; 1 Peter ch. 1 v 10 – 12 ; 2 Peter ch. 1 v 20 – 21; Psalm ch. 19 v 7 – 11)
  2. The unity of the Godhead with the distinction of Persons in that Unity, namely the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, to whom equal honour is due. (Deuteronomy ch. 6 v 4; Genesis  ch. 1 v 3 and 26; John ch.1 vs. 1 – 2; ch. 5,17, vs 22 – 25; ch14 vs 25 – 30;16 v 7, vs. 27 – 28 Philippians ch 2 v 6; Hebrews ch 1 v 1 – 5, vs 8.)
  3. a) That the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, truly became man, being begotten of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. (John ch.1 v 14; Romans ch. 8 v 3; Galatians ch. 4 v 4; Mtthew ch. 1 v 20 – 25; Luke ch. 1 v 35. b) That His death was a sacrifice to God and a propitiation for the remission of sins. (Romans ch. 4 v 25; 2 Corinthians ch. 5 v 21; Hebrews ch. 9 vs 24 – 28; Hebrews ch. 10 v 12 – 14.) c) That He was raised from the dead. (Matthew ch. 28 v 5 – 7; 1 Corinthians 15 v 20) d) That He ascended to the right hand of God and is now the all-sufficient High Priest of His people. (Mark ch. 15 vs 19 – 20; Luke ch. 24 v 50 – 51; Acts ch. 1 v 9; Ephesians ch. 4 vs 8 – 10; Hebrews ch. 4 v 14 – 15; ch. 7 v 25.) e) That He will come again to receive His people to Himself and to set up His Kingdom. (John ch. 14 v 5, 1 Thessalonians ch. 4 v 13 – 18; Luke ch. 1 v 32 – 33; Isaiah ch. 9 v 6 – 7; Daniel ch.2 v 44 – 45; ch 7 v 13 – 14.)
  4. That as a consequence of the fall of Adam, man became “lost”, “without strength” and “against God”. (Psalm ch. 53 vs 2 – 3; Luke ch. 19 v 10; Romans ch. 3 v 19; ch. 5; ch 6 v 12 – 19; ch.8 5 – 7.)
  5. The Holy Spirit’s work in regeneration and sanctification. (John ch.3 vs 6 – 8; ch. 15 vs 8 – 11; Titus ch. 3 vs 4 – 7; 2 Thessalonians    ch. 2  vs 13 – 14; 1 Peter ch. 1 v 8.)
  6. a) That the justification of the sinner before God is by faith in Christ alone. (Romans ch. 3 vs 21 – 26; ch. 4 vs 4 – 5; ch. 5 v 1; Galatians ch. 2 v 16)

b) That everyone justified through faith is also born of God. (John ch. 1 vs 12 – 13; James ch. 1 v 18; 1 Peter ch. 1 v 23)

c) That such new birth results in, and is made evident by, holiness of life and  good works. (Ephesians ch. 2 v 10; 4 v 24; Titus ch 3 vs 4 – 8;)

7 a) That at death the spirit of man does not cease to exist or become unconscious. (Ecclesiastes ch. 1 v 12; Luke ch. 15 vs 19 – 31; ch 23 v 43; 2 Corinthians ch. 5 vs 6 – 8)

b) That the dead will be raised wither to life or condemnation, and that the blessedness of the righteous and the punishment of the unrighteous will both be eternal. (1 Corinthians ch. 15 vs 51 – 57; Philippians ch. 3 vs 20 – 21; Romans ch. 14 vs 9 – 10; 2 Corinthians ch 5 v 10; Daniel ch 12 v 2; Acts ch.17 v 31; Revelation chapter 20 v 11 – 20)
